Physiotherapy

Massage & Remedial (Deep Tissue) Massage

(performed by a physio & claimable through health funds)

Below is a general description of the way Evolve Physio approaches
and treats patients in the above areas of care.

Physiotherapy

• Aims to rehabilitate and improve movement using evidencebased, natural methods such as exercise, motivation, pain relief and education.
• Before any treatment occurs your physiotherapist will assess your condition through a series of movements and special tests, diagnose the problem if possible and help the patient understand what is wrong. The physio will then develop a treatment plan taking into account your lifestyle, activities and general health.
• Variety of treatments used including exercise programs, massage, joint manipulation and mobilisation to reduce pain and stiffness, muscle re-education, hot and cold packs and electrotherapy to relieve pain, reduce swelling, speed up the healing process and improvement
• Throughout the course of treatment your physio will re-evaluate your progress and modify treatment as necessary in order to help you reach your goals.

If you are into sports, Evolve physio will act like your very own sports injury clinic and can perform a movement assessment from head to toe in order to plan a exercise program that allows you to move efficiently, powerfully and pain free throughout your sporting season.

Massage

• Human touch has been shown to be both emotionally and physically healing
• Massage helps to heal damaged tissue, stimulate circulation, boost immune system function, reduce pain and tension and induce a calming effect
• Therapists use a variety of techniques to enhance muscle function and promote relaxation
• At Evolve Physio we offer 3 different kinds of massage: Trigger Point Massage, Relaxation Massage and Remedial massage.
• Trigger point massage consists of pressure being applied to tender “trigger” points in the muscles to alleviate spasms and pain
• Relaxation involves gentle kneading of the muscle to allow for tension relief and allowing the patient to be relaxed and refreshed.
• Remedial massage is a deep massage used to help restore the body to its most optimal health after injury. It is used to remove blockages, damaged cells, scar tissue and adhesions in order to speed up recovery
• Massage is useful for many conditions including back pain, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, sprains and strains
• Massage is also used to help reduce tension and stress, often found in the workplace, and enhance mental alertness
• Key Points: massage increases healing, boosts energy, reduces recovery time after injury, eases pain and enhances relaxation and well being. As physiotherapists are movement and musculoskeletal specialists, all massage is performed by a physio to ensure your best results and is also claimable through your health fund
